Sundek

In 1958, in S. Francisco, SUN-DEK of California, a swimwear brand of the early 1940s, decided to increase its collection, introducing a small line of nylon and cotton nylon shorts, designed specifically for surfing, creating SUNDEK one of the first brands dedicated to this sport. In the 1960s, SUNDEK expanded its market from California to Hawaii and the East Coast. Innovative solutions, such as the use of velcro instead of zippers and colored prints on cotton shorts, soon increased the demand on the market. During these years, many young surfers were sponsored by SUNDEK, promoting the brand and the sport itself, already recognized as a lifestyle. 1972 marked the beginning of the “shorts with the rainbow” era. Thanks to their technical characteristics and their recognizable and original design, they immediately became an icon for surfers. SUNDEK's commitment continues through the sponsorship of the ESA (Eastern Surfing Association) and various competitions in the territory. Around this time, athletes such as Kelly Slater, Sean Slater, Ken Bradshaw, Corky Carroll and Mark Foo were on the SUNDEK team, contributing to the growth of the brand and the sport itself. Today SUNDEK is designed in Italy and has become a lifestyle brand as well as a technical one, developing collections for men, women and children. Thanks to its trademark, the iconic rainbow, it is easily recognizable and is a trendsetter in many countries boasting 1500 customers worldwide, between Europe and the USA and sells about one million units every year.
